The 7 best and worst things to happen in this year's Academy Award nominations

7. Worst: The “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Snub

C’mon, guys. Fred deserved better.

6. Best: The “Free Solo” best documentary feature nomination

If you know me, you know I saw "Free Solo" 3 times in theatres and would have given up on movies if this hadn't been nominated. Of all the movies that came out this year, this one is the must-see.

5. Best: Lady Gaga’s best actress nomination!

Really, what can't Lady Gaga do?

4. Worst: “Bohemian Rhapsody” for Best Picture?

Golden Globes round two? I hope not.

3. Best: All of the best foreign language film nominees

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, international cinema is where it is at.

2. Worst: “And here are the all-male nominees” strikes again…

This one’s pretty self-explanatory.

1. Best: “Roma” nominated for Best Picture

While it undoubtedly deserved to be nominated, I was a little apprehensive that the Academy would overlook it as it is a foreign film. Well, we can all breathe again.
