Let's make a Happy/Aunt May movie happen: A two minute review of "Spiderman: Far From Home"

The cinematic forces that be have caused me to find myself watching Marvel movies a little more than usual this year, so I wasn’t too surprised to be curling up in the back rows of Cinemark as the title page for “Spiderman: Far From Home” flashed on screen and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” played.

I’m not going to dive too deep into this one. Yeah, the action scenes were awesome.* Zendaya and Tom Holland were great together (I guess). Jake Gyllenhaal crept out of his independent movie underworld to do a solid job as Mysterio. But enough of that. What I’m here to talk about is Happy and Aunt May.

Action and plot have never been that interesting to me as far as big-time blockbuster hero movies go. I’d much rather see Harry, Ron, and Hermione bantering on for two hours than watch them defeat You Know Who. I’d rather watch Legolas and Aragorn hang out all day than see them battle for Middle Earth. I think that the next thing to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or whatever they call it) should be a Happy/Aunt May rom-com. Just Marisa Tomei and Jon Favreau hanging out. Now that is $15 I’d be willing to spend on a movie. Sure, it was great to see Peter Parker and company saving the world overseas, but I was a lot more interested in what was going on back at home. The scenes with the two of them were, without a doubt, the movie’s best. Their chemistry? Weirdly amazing. It was something I never saw coming but now, enlightened by “Far From Home,” need in my life. At least do a short for Red Nose Day, Marvel. Your fans deserve it.

Somebody start a petition.

* If you can ignore the CGI, which try as I may, I can’t.
