Film Diaries: September 2019

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Directed by Howard Hawks

I was a big fan of this. Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell’s performances are killer. The costumes are iconic and honestly, this movie is kind of refreshing? Especially for being from 1953.

Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates
Created and Directed by David Guggenheim

Bill Gates is, to say the least, an interesting guy. This Netflix documentary series offers an insightful look into his life and his work with the Bill Gates Foundation. I think in an age of celebrity billionaires (I’m looking at you, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk) it is amazing when they can devote a large part of their time to solving the world’s problems like Bill and Melinda Gates do. Ballerz only.

A Clockwork Orange
Directed by Stanley Kubrick

Wow. I did not like this one as much as I thought I would. Definitely a must watch, definitely not an easy watch. However, watching the movie did make me understand the language of the book more. The costuming and set design are extremely unique, I loved the title cards/soundtrack…not my favorite, but a worthwhile watch.
